UTR Tournament on Aug 22 a Success!

Dave Houston ran a full singles tournament on Sunday, Aug 22, at the High School Courts, with overflow entries playing at Colony Club. Thank you, Dave, for all the effort you put into the tournament. Proceeds going to HMB High Tennis teams.

Lucas Inouye from Moss Beach was the only Coastside winner.

In the photo above, that’s Steve Kawahara, in the black shirt, playing in his singles match. All ages and abilities welcome at these tournaments.

Visiting the tournament to take some pictures, my favorite moment was when a young player, about to start his match, ran out of the court when someone said there were donuts. I think he was as excited about the donut as he was playing in the tournament :-).

The first tournament of the year was held on Saturday, April 10th. The tennis gods were kind and provided a beautiful sunny day for the event. A total of 36 players turned out to play in 9 flights. Jeff Kawahara of Half Moon Bay won the top flight. Every flight winner received $30. All other proceeds were contributed to the HMB high school tennis booster club. Many thanks to Dave Houston as Tournament Director.
