What’s New with the CTA?

In 2019, our CTA family lost our member Phil McVey. Phil liked his tennis to be fun and competitive and he was a supportive teammate. You could hear his distinctive deep voice across the courts. He is survived by his wife Lynn, and two children, twins PJ and Sinead. The kids were freshman at HMBHS at the time and active tennis players. CTA held a fundraiser to provide scholarship money to PJ and Sinead. And, recently, our President, Margie Gater had the honor of delivering the funds to them. PJ and Sinead are embarking on their college careers. PJ at UC Davis, and Sinead at Cal Poly. We wish them all the success in the world!

CTA bids a fond goodbye to HMB High Principal, John Nazar, who is retiring. John was a key advocate of our efforts to get the courts resurfaced and has supported Coastside tennis during his years as Principal. We will truly miss him, but he’s not going far; he has a CTA membership and promises to dust off his racket!
